Every year, August 13th is celebrated at National Left-Handed Day, which got me thinking...who is North Dakota's most famous left-hander?

Unfortunately, North Dakota isn't exactly a celebrity hotbed, but one of the best basketball coaches of all-time graduated from Williston High School and just so happens to be left-handed. So, that makes Phil Jackson North Dakota's most famous left-hander.

Jackson is best known for leading both the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers to multiple championships during the 1990s and 2000s, but from the late 1960s to mid-1970s, he suited up for the New York Knicks. Jackson's playing career ended when he retired in 1980, according to Wikipedia.

During his collegiate career, it was Jackson's left-handed hook that helped him average over 27 points a game as a senior at the University of North Dakota, according to NBA.com.

So, as you left-handers celebrate your big day, don't forget about North Dakota's most famous left-hander, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson.
