When people think of North Dakota, they don't necessarily consider it a hotbed teeming with Hollywood talent. However, there are quite a few well-known entertainers that came from The Peace Garden state. Here are 10 famous people who originally hail from ND.

    Josh Duhamel - Minot

    ND's golden boy, Josh Duhamel, is a Minot native, actor and former fashion model who appeared on TV shows 'All My Children' and 'Las Vegas', as well as a number of big screen features including 'Transformers', 'New Year's Eve', and 'Safe Haven'. He is married to Black Eyed Peas frontwoman, Fergie. The couple had their first child, Axl Jack, in August of 2013. Duhamel is still intimately involved in ND affairs.

    Actor Kellan Lutz was born in Dickinson and is best known for his role as Emmet Cullen in 'The Twilight Saga' series. He grew up in North Dakota, the Midwest and Arizona before pursuing an acting career.

    Rapper singer and song-writer, Wiz Khalifa (real name: Cameron Jibril Thomaz) was born in Minot in 1987. He is most well-known for his single, 'Black and Yellow', an anthem to the city of Pittsburgh, where he graduated high school. Khalifa is married to model, Amber Rose, and the two have a son, Sebastian, born in February of 2013.

    Lawrence Welk was born in the small German-speaking community of Strasburg, ND. His show, 'The Lawrence Welk Show', was among the most successful musical variety shows in American history.

    Fargo-native Jonny Lang is a Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, guitarist and recording artist. He has toured with the Rolling Stones, Buddy Guy, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Blues Traveler, Jeff Beck and Sting. Lang also co-wrote Eric Clapton's Grammy winning song, 'Change the World'.

    Leslie Bibb - Bismarck

    Actress and model Leslie Bibb was born in Bismarck in 1974. She played supporting roles in some television series, most notably 90s sitcom 'Home Improvement',  but perhaps is most known for her role as Carly Bobby in the 2006 film 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby', starring Will Ferrell.

    Charlie Korsmo - Fargo

    Fargo-native, Charlie Korsmo, is a former child actor best known for his roles in the 90s films 'Hook' and 'Can't Hardly Wait'. Korsmo has since left acting behind and is now a lawyer. He currently teaches at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio.

    Louis L'amour - Jamestown

    Western novelist Louis L'amour is widely considered to be one of the world's most popular authors. He was born in Jamestown and lived there until he was 15-years-old. Many of his works were adapted into movies and his entire paperback collection consists of 117 novels and paperback short stories. L'amour died in 1988 from lung cancer.

    Angie Dickinson - Kulm

    Actress Angie Dickinson was born in the small town of Kulm, ND in 1931. She is best known for her roles in the movies 'Rio Bravo' (starring John Wayne) and 'Dressed to Kill', as "Sgt. 'Pepper' Anderson" on the NBC series 'Police Women'.

    Peggy Lee - Jamestown

    Peggy Lee was a jazz and popular music singer, songwriter, composer and actress who had a career that spanned across six decades. She sang with the likes of big band king, Benny Goodman, and was nominated for 12 Grammy awards, winning one in 1969, as well as being awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995. Lee died at the age of 81 from complications from diabetes and a heart attack.
