George Barris, known to many as the custom car maker behind such favorites as the Batmobile and the Munster Koach, passed away Thursday, November 5th, at the age of 89.

Barris' son, Brett, announced his father's passing in a Facebook post, according to Patch.com:

Sorry to have to post that my father, legendary kustom car king George Barris, has moved to the bigger garage in the sky. He passed on peacefully in his sleep at 2:45 a.m.

Along with creating the Batmobile and the Munster Koach, Barris was also involved in the creation of vehicles for 'Knight Rider' and 'The Beverly Hillbillies.'

He also created custom vehicles for celebrities, including Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Elton John, and Zsa Zsa Gabor, according to Wikipedia.

Barris is survived by his two children.
