Yesterday, David Letterman unexpectedly announced his retirement from 'The Late Show', effective at the end of his current contract in 2015. Now, the question is: Who will take Dave's spot?

Here's a list of five comedians I think could replace David Letterman as host of 'The Late Show':

    Craig Ferguson

Craig Ferguson is the obvious choice to take over the 'Late Show' throne. Ferguson has host 'The Late Late Show' for ten years, which just so happens to be produced by the same company that produces 'The Late Show'.

Ferguson is a hilarious comedian and already knows how to host a late night program, so I think he'd do an admirable job.

    Jon Stewart

As the host of satire news program 'The Daily Show' on Comedy Central, Jon Stewart has cemented himself as one of the most popular hosts on television.

Stewart's contract with 'The Daily Show' ends in 2015, which just so happens to be the year that Letterman is retiring. Coincidence? We'll have to wait and see...

    Ellen DeGeneres

While I'll admit that her comedy isn't exactly my favorite, I think Ellen would be a great choice to take over Letterman's chair.

She's had her own talk show, 'The Ellen Show', since 2003 and has hosted her fair share of awards shows. She's a name and face that people know and her current show is already structured in such a way that it would easily translate to late night. Add to that the fact that she's already well versed in the digital realm and I think Ellen could be a force to be reckoned with.

    Louis CK

Louis CK is hands down the funniest comedian out there today. However, if there's any truth to his TV show, Louie auditioned to replace Letterman as host years ago and didn't fare all that well.

Could Louie host a late night talk show? Yes. Would it go over as well as some of his stand-up? Probably not, but I'd love to see him do a monologue every single night.

    Conan O'Brien

Could this be the second time O'Brien replaces Letterman in the late night game? O'Brien took over 'Late Night' from Letterman in 1993 and hosted it until 2009, when he was tapped to replace Jay Leno.

Obviously, that didn't work out and O'Brien now hosts his own late night show on TBS. O'Brien's contract with TBS runs through 2015, which is the year Letterman plans to retire. Could we see a return to network TV for Conan? I think it's a possibility.
