It is not often a winter storm basically shuts down the area, but, it seems this winter storm did just that.

It was tough going after the rain transitioned into snow by mid-morning Monday. From that point, businesses were closing early to allow employees to go home before some of the roads were impassible.

Most of the major Emergency Snow Routes have been cleared and the plows will be working throughout the over-night hours.

The National Weather Service in Bismarck posted these snow totals from the area. These totals are as of 6 pm Monday, March 5th.

  • Ashley- McIntosh County  8 inches
  • Max- McLean County   7 inches
  • Menoken- Burleigh County   5 inches
  • Hazen -Oliver County  2.5 inches
  • Driscoll - Burleigh County - 6 inches
  • Mandan- Morton County -  4 inches
  • Washburn - McLean County - 2.5 inches
  • Harvey- Wells County 3.5 inches
  • Jamestown- Stutsman County - 3 inches
