A Bismarck institution is making a comeback just weeks after closing its doors.

The White House Cafeteria, which had been open for over 50 years, had seen declining sales and announced March 20 that it would be scaling back its services. Without additional investors, the restaurant was forced to close its doors at 117 N. Fifth St., but it continued catering services and serving at Design Shack in Mandan.

However, after an outpouring of community support and the apparent securing of additional investors, the restaurant announced on Facebook it has reopened its doors in Bismarck with new hours of operation, at least until further staff has been hired.

The new hours are 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. on Fridays.

It's great to see a beloved local business continue to operate! This serves as a great reminder to the community that if you have a local business that you cherish, you can make a difference by supporting locally owned business whenever you can.
