U.S. News & World Report this morning released the rankings from their annual, "Best State Rankings."

U.S. News & World Report looks across many areas in order to come up with the rankings such as health care, education, crime, infrastructure, opportunity, economy, and government.

Some of the metrics count more than others based on what people consider to be most important to them. For example, health care and education are the two most important metrics, with government, surprisingly, getting the least amount of weight.

Out of all the metrics mentioned above, North Dakota finished in the top 10 in four categories. North Dakota ranked No. 2 in economy, No. 6 in infrastructure, No. 7 in opportunity, and No. 7 in government.

The Peace Garden State ranked 19th in healthcare, 16th in education, and 15th in crime.

Overall, U.S. News & World Report ranked North Dakota as the fourth best state in the United States. Massachusetts was the best state while Louisiana was the worst. Washington D.C. was not included in the rankings.
