I know Bismarck fans cherish their trips to the Ralph each year.  Well, if you're going to a game in January you may get to see the #1 ranked team in the country.

Since the college hockey season began in October, UND has piled up wins and steadily climbed in the national polls.

It is now at the top.

When USCHO released its weekly national poll Monday morning, UND was sitting at No. 1...

UND opened the season ranked No. 18 and has climbed to Nos. 16, 14, 10, 9, 5, 3 and 2 in the last two-plus months.

Buoyed by the nation's longest unbeaten streak at 13 games -- and coupled with Minnesota State-Mankato's loss at Northern Michigan over the weekend -- the Fighting Hawks grabbed the top spot away from the Mavericks.

UND (14-1-2) grabbed 33 of 50 first-place votes in the poll. The Mavericks fell just one spot to No. 2, while Cornell was ranked third, Clarkson fourth and Boston College fifth.  It should be a fun second half of the season to watch.
