Travel Alert Has Been Issued for Much of Southern ND

Heavy snow has created hazardous road conditions for much of south-central and southeastern North Dakota. A travel alert has been issued by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The travel alert means that for those areas where the alert has been issued, motorists can still travel, but should be advised of rapidly changing conditions.

Bismarck was one of several cities included in the travel alert, as well as Devils Lake, Carrington, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Valley City, Ellendale, Fargo, and Wahpeton and those cities' surrounding areas.

Should conditions worsen, the alert may be changed to a 'no travel advised'.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation encourages motorists to wear seat belts, reduce speed, and drive according to the conditions.

As for continuing snowfall, the National Weather Service has tweeted that snow may be coming to an end for central North Dakota, but not for the eastern side of the state as of 1 p.m. this afternoon.
