Playboy recently published a map, entitled 'The Most Popular Fictional Character from Every State,' and they think Jay Gatsby is the most popular from North Dakota. Luckily for Gatsby, there isn't much competition.
Fictional characters galore call states like New York and California home, but only a handful hail from The Peace Garden State.

Born James Gatz in rural North Dakota, Jay Gatsby is the main character in F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby.'
Many actors have portrayed Gatsby over the years, including Robert Redford, Toby Stephens, and Leonardo DiCaprio (pictured), according to Wikipedia.

Low-Light (G.I. Joe)
Born Cooper G. McBride in Crosby, North Dakota, Low-Light made his first appearance with 'G.I. Joe' in 1986, when Hasbro released him as an action figure.
Over the years, Low-Light has made appearances in 'G.I. Joe' comics and animated films, including 1987's 'G.I. Joe: The Movie,' according to Wikipedia.

Marvel supervillain Mentallo was born Marvin Flumm in Watford City, North Dakota. He was first introduced in 1966, as part of the anthology 'Strange Tales.'
Mentallo's powers include telepathy and mental probes that function as a radar sense, according to Wikipedia. He may also be known to some comic fans as Think Tank.
