You know that cash left over from your canceled vacation? This weekend, come blow it all at the track!  They say nothing is a sure bet- and they're right.  But checking out the horse races could be a lot of fun and a very unique experience.

This Friday and Saturday, July 17-18, it's opening weekend at the North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo. If you can't make it opening weekend, there's still plenty of the season to enjoy.

But wait...

Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26, it's closing weekend at the North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo.

Man, that is one short season.  That must be why the jam so much into 4 days of dirt flying fun!   Like this Saturday is Horses and Heroes Day when law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, and all active and retired military get free gate admission.

OK, upon further inspection there ain't much else going on. Who cares?  We're only there for the ponies!  It's road trip time!  You make a thermos full of Mint Juleps and I'll drain the bank account- we're going to the track!

The website does have a printable "Basic guide to horse wagering". So, let's review.

The three basic bets are Win, Place, and Show. If you bet "win" your horse has to come in first to get paid. If you bet "place" it can come in first or second.  Choose to bet "show" and your horse will pay at first, second, or third.  There's the Daily Double, Exacta, Trifecta, even something called a Superfecta.  All ways to increase your crippling losses.

So, ya got two weekends to get rich- go get ya some!
