Many are excited to see the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st, but when is the best time to view it?

The cool thing about this solar eclipse is that everyone in the United States will be able to see it. However, the level of visibility will be different from state to state. Vox.com helps give us an idea of what we can expect to see in Bismarck-Mandan and when we should be looking.

According to Vox.com, the area of the sun blocked out by the moon is 70 miles wide, which seems small. Various cities around the United States will see a different percentage of the sun blocked.

We typed in the area code 58503, which is an area of Bismarck. If you are in the Bismarck-Mandan area you will see a partial eclipse. It is predicted that we will be able to see 83.7% of the sun. It will peak at roughly 12:52 p.m. Central time. The eclipse will begin at about 11:33 a.m. and go until 2:15 p.m.

Want to see the total solar eclipse? You have some time to plan a road trip 316 miles southwest.

Mark your calendars for Monday, August 21st!
