St. Mary's secured their second straight NDHSAA Class AA state championship Friday night, November 14th, defeating Fargo Shanley 21-7 in the Dakota Bowl.

The Saints, ranked #1 in Class AA, outgained Shanley 203-93 in offensive yards in the first half. St. Mary's was first on the board with a 58-yard touchdown by Noah Krebs near the end of the first quarter.

The Saints tacked on another touchdown towards the end of the second quarter, giving them a 14-0 lead heading into the half.

The two teams were held scoreless in the third quarter, but the Deacons got on the board late in the fourth, bringing the score to 14-7.

The Deacons were able to force the Saints to punt, giving them a chance to tie the game with a touchdown, but the Saints intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown with just :50 left on the clock, securing the 21-7 win.

This is the Saints' second straight Class AA state championship.
