So I Guess We Should Be Wearing Two Masks??
Even though the Governor of North Dakota Doug Burgum allowed our mask ordinance in the state of North Dakota to expire earlier this month, some health experts are doubling down on masks.
According to an article on KX News, one of the experts is Dr. Fauci, the nation’s top public health expert and Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Fauci was on the "Today" show and when asked on whether wearing two masks could help slow the spread, Fauci responded, " “It likely does because this is a physical covering to prevent droplets and virus to get in. If you have a physical covering with one layer and you put another layer on it, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective.”
Fauci isn't the only public health expert to suggest wearing two masks. Linsey Marr, an expert in virus transmission at Virginia Tech, echoes Dr. Fauci's observations. "A second mask adds another obstacle course, increasing the chance that the particle will be trapped before it gets through to the other side,” according to the article on KX News.
You might remember, Dr. Fauci also called for people to wear eye protection or goggles at one point during the height of the pandemic.
My question is how long before we're all wearing space suits to help slow the spread? Okay, that might be going a little far, but you get what I mean. At what point is enough, is enough? In the article they did go on to say that wearing more than two masks might affect your breathing.
