Is North Dakota "Nice" really a thing?

Well, according to an article on YouGov it is.  More on that in a moment.  YouGov asked more than 77,000 people whether they think people in their own state tend to be ruder or more polite than most Americans.

No surprise in my opinion.  The northeast believes they have the rudest people in the United States.  Have you ever spent any time with a New Yorker?  Rhode Island is the self-proclaimed rudest state.  In fact, 42% of the state of Rhode Island believes they're ruder than the rest of America.

Here's the rest of the Top 10 Rudest States.

Following Rhode Island are the "Mass Holes" in Massachusetts, lol I love that, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Connecticut, Florida, California (after living there for a short time, it should be MUCH higher), Washington DC, and Pennsylvania rounding out the top 10.

So how about the Top Ten Least Rude States?

The Midwest rules supreme, with a couple of exceptions.  Hawaii comes in at number one.  No surprise, what on earth do they have to be uptight about living in paradise.  Vermont comes in at number two, in maybe some sort of surprise.  Followed by South Dakota, North Dakota at number four, Wyoming, Montana, Minnesota, Tennessee, Alaska, and Idaho round out the Top 10.

I'm kind of surprised the south isn't more represented in the least rude class, as my interactions with southern people have been very favorable.  Plenty of southern charm and hospitality in my experience.

Anyway, you can feel good about yourself and know where you live and the people who live here are true, "North Dakota Nice!"

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
