The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a blizzard watch for portions of the listening area, beginning Wednesday afternoon.

According to the NWS:

Blizzard conditions possible across northern North Dakota and the James River Valley Wednesday night into Thursday...

Very strong northwest winds, with gusts of 60 mph are possible Wednesday night through Thursday across northern North Dakota and the James River Valley. While the snowpack across much of these areas is crusted...the strong winds may be able to break up the crust and create white out conditions.

This includes locations from Crosby through Stanley...Minot...Garrison...Bottineau...Belcourt...Rugby...Carrington...Jamestown...and Oakes.

The NWS has also issued a high wind watch for west and south central North Dakota, beginning Wednesday night. This watch includes locations like Williston, Beach, Dickinson, Bismarck, Linton, and Wishek.
