Minot's very own Josh Duhamel

One of North Dakota's most famous celebrity figures is being pursued to stick around and help promote tourism. He's no stranger to representing our state and drawing visitors in with his appeal. Actor Josh Duhamel is from Minot, North Dakota, and has been a wonderful pitchman for North Dakota since 2013. You've seen him on the big screen in movies such as the “Transformers”, Duhamel is 48 years old, and for many, he is the perfect vehicle to promote everything our state has to offer.

Duhamel was vital in helping raise money for the victims back in the Minot 2011 flood.

According to abcnews “He’s a great ambassador for our state and cares about where he comes from. He has helped expand our image and awareness of our state,”  said Sara Otte Coleman, who heads the state’s tourism agency. Josh also has had some personal ties to stepping up and helping out with the 2011 Minot flood, having seen his family deal with severe damage to their home. Josh was named as the honorary chairman of a fund that went out and raised millions for the victims.

How much would you guess Josh gets paid for helping North Dakota with tourism?

Whether you are a fan of his movies or not, Josh is the perfect role model for our state. His PR has been excellent, doing a great job of portraying Duhamel as an average guy who loves the outdoors, attending sporting events, and spending time with his family. Abcnews reports that Josh "...has been paid more than $1 million from the state. His current two-year tourism deal expires in December"
