Over the past year, only Nebraska took in more refugees per capita. North Dakota took in 71 per 100,000 residents.

Almost 85,000 refugees were taken into the U.S. last year. This was an increase of more than 15,000, since the year previously.

Neighboring Minnesota had has the highest rate per capita over the past ten years as they've took in an average of 124 per 100,000 residents.

The research was conducted by the Pew Center. Their research said that last year, New York, California, and Texas took in the most refugees overall as they combined for 20,738 of the estimated 85,000 taken in.

Although the statistic may seem skewed due to the lower population of North Dakota, it's good to know we're doing our part to help out these refugees.
