A recent human trafficking bust in North Dakota was part of a 12-state sting operation.

Last week, Valley News Live reported that three men were arrested at a hotel in Grand Forks for trafficking. Come to find out, this sting operation was a part of a simultaneous 12-state sting called "Operation United Front."

According to Fox News, "Operation United Front" spanned across 12 states where 47 human trafficking victims were rescued and 102 alleged traffickers were arrested. KY3 (Missouri) reported that the North Dakota sector arrested three traffickers and rescued six victims.

How is a person supposed to spot trafficking victims?

How do you know if a human trafficking situation is going on? This type of stuff is pretty underground, it is not like it is easy to pick a trafficker or victim out of a crowd. But there are signs that could point to possible trafficking situations. The National Human Trafficking Hotline has a breakdown of signs to look for with all types of trafficking, traffickers, and victims. And anyone can report human trafficking via phone call, text, or live chat.

There are North Dakota groups dedicated to fighting human trafficking.

There is an organization based in Bismarck called 31:8 Project. Earlier this year, I met with the nonprofit organization's founder, Stacy Schaffer, and learned a little bit about the incredible work 31:8 Project is doing. They are battling human trafficking from all angles. Not only does 31:8 Project help in rescuing victims of trafficking, but they also rehabilitate victims, and even offer education to the public.
