Thanks to House Bill 1328, police in North Dakota can now legally attach tasers, pepper spray, sound cannons, and other 'less-than-lethal' weapons to drones.

According to CNBC, the legislation was first intended to prevent police from using drones to conduct surveillance on private properties without a warrant.

That somehow turned into what it is now, which is legislation that allows law enforcement to add 'enhancements' to drones, so to speak.

This legislation makes North Dakota the first state in the U.S. to allow drones to be weaponized, though that doesn't necessarily mean that state and local police departments will actually take advantage of the new law.

Whether local or state police decide to do anything with drones is completely up to them, but thanks to this new legislation, it is completely legal.
