The state of North Dakota has been getting a lot of press lately over legislation that would make the state the most restrictive in regards to abortion rights. Well, expect the press to continue because North Dakota governor Jack Dalrymple signed all three abortion bills today.

One bill would would ban abortion if a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which could be as early as six weeks. The governor also signed a bill that would ban abortions based on genetic defects, which makes North Dakota the first state to have such a bill. He also signed a bill requiring abortion-performing doctors to be a physician with hospital-admitting privileges. All three bills are set to take effect August 1st.

Everyone is going to have their own opinion on this matter and I don't think this is the time or place for me to voice mine. However, anyone who lives in the state of North Dakota should take the time to research these bills and learn more. It is your duty as a citizen of this great state to know exactly what legislation he's signing and what it means.
