North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz is hoping to lead the Bison to their fifth straight FCS championship this season and the rest of the country is taking notice.

Wentz was the only FCS quarterback named to the watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which is an award presented annually to the nation's top college quarterback based on character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and athletic accomplishments, according to GoBison.com.

Candidates for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award must be college seniors or fourth-year juniors on schedule to graduate with their class.

Former winners of the award include current NFL quarterbacks Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, Matt Ryan, and Andrew Luck. Last season's winner, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, was the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Wentz, a Bismarck Century graduate, threw for over 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns to help the Bison secure their fourth straight FCS championship last season.

The 2015 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award will be presented on December 11th in Baltimore.
