Will Bison football fans get thrown a bone?

North Dakota State taking on Nebraska would be one heck of a match up. But, like everything planned for 2020 there are hurdles. NDSU's conference, The Missouri Valley Conference has moved all conference games to the spring, leaving the Bison open to find non-conference opponents for the fall. The Nebraska Cornhuskers were originally scheduled to face the South Dakota State Jack Rabbits, also a member of the Bison's Missouri Valley Conference.  I don't know why the Jackrabbits aren't part of the conversation to play Nebraska.  Could be because the Bison are right now scrimmaging out on the practice field and South Dakota may have already taken it's ball home until spring.

But the Bison, like the Huskers, just want to play some football. NDSU was going to open the season with a huge match up September 5th on the West Coast against the Oregon State Ducks of the PAC-12. But with the Big 10 and the PAC-12 shifting their seasons to the spring, that non-conference game was a non-starter.

But hold on- Nebraska is a Big 10 team, and if that conference moved their games to the spring, why are we even talking about Nebraska?  Because, the Cornhuskers wanna play some ball in the fall- and they're not being quiet about it one little bit. But Big 10 commissioner Kevin Warren told Yahoo Sports, that no school in the conference can play this fall "without consequences".

Here's how it could happen, another Big Ten member, the Ohio State Buckeyes would like to play some games in the fall as well. Ohio State is one of the biggest programs in college football, what kind of "consequences" would the Big Ten try to slap on the Buckeyes? We'll keep watching the story.

A Bison/'Husker battle this fall could surely cool them COVID blues.
