A radio legend passed on fathers Day, Casey Kasem has died at the age of 82. I think anyone who is in the radio business has to take pause and think how he changed the radio industry. He was not only a legend to me, I think he is one of the reasons I got into radio!

As many of you know, I grew up on a farm in Elgin, N.D.

This may he shocking to the young people out there but when I grew up, we didn't have cell phones or computers to stream music. We just listened to the good old fashioned radio!

I would go to my room and listen to the coutdown with Casey Kasem every week, grab my cassette recorder and try to record the latest songs ....as the countdown continues.

On New Years he did the top 100 countdown, I would grab my walkman ( kids ask adults what this is) and take it to the barn and listen while I did chores so I would not miss a song!

Farewell to radio legend Casey Kasem, you will be missed!
