Every 4 years when the Winter Olympics roll around, I get flashbacks from my time, at a once of a lifetime experience, at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France.

I was working afternoons in Baton Rouge, LA at 100.7 The Tiger. Our company also owned a TV station, WVLA-TV. I was lucky enough to attend the Winter Games compliments of Coke. We would broadcast live from Albertville, France back to Louisiana from the Olympic Broadcast Center. (7 hour time difference) Local time, we'd do our show in the afternoon, which was morning time in the US.

We stayed in the just outside the Olympic Village during our week long experience, but we did attend the games everyday for a week.

Tickets for many of the games were hard to come by, but we did score a few tickets to attend the figure skating from our sponsor Coke, and originally, I was not so impressed to attend. Figure skating at the time, was not my choice sport to attend, but it was all our sponsor offered.

The fact is, after attending the figure skating events, I walked away with a totally, 100% respect for these athletes. The work and the grace of the sport was totally captivating and entertaining. These skaters are real athletes, regardless of what many people think. I saw in person, how hard these men and women work, The sweat, nerves, timing, grace and athleticism was enthralling.

Needless to say, I LOVE the winter games and will always have fond memories of my time attending an event, most people will never have the opportunity to witness.

One of the highlights of our trip and broadcast was to have Bruce Jenner, now known as Caitlyn Jenner as a guest host on our show.
