Saturday (November 4th) was 'Miss America 2018 Cara Mund Day' in Bismarck and she had quite the homecoming party.

Mund, 23, had a busy day throughout her homecoming celebration, which began with a pre-event press conference at Sanford Ritterbush Auditorium.

Mund spoke about how people from North Dakota are often underestimated. She wanted to express the importance of being someone young girls can look up to as she tries to lead by example. "I just want all these young girls, whether you're in North Dakota, whether you're in a state in a rural area, to know that if you can dream and you can work hard, you can become it," said Mund.

Her day continued as she visited some children in the hospital at Sanford.

On Saturday afternoon, the stage was set at the Bismarck Event Center for her official 'Homecoming Party.'

More than 2,000 guests came out to the event in support of their hometown Miss America 2018. Mund spoke at the event before having a Q&A with a select group of children who were brought up on-stage before being gifted the key to both the cities of Bismarck and Mandan.

Sen. John Hoeven, Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, Rep. Kevin Cramer, Bismarck city commissioner Josh Askvig, and Mandan Mayor Tim Helbling were on-hand to give remarks on Cara Mund's character and leadership as Miss North Dakota and now, Miss America.

Several Miss America contestants were also on-hand to speak in support of Mund on how she's not only touched their lives, but also what it means to have her be the best choice for Miss America. The Miss America contestants were the representatives from Missouri (first runner-up), Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Virgina, Washington, Alaska, Texas, Minnesota, Wyoming, and Pennsylvania.
