The Minnesota Vikings are headed back to the playoffs for the first time since 2012, after defeating the New York Giants 49-17 at TCF Bank Stadium Sunday night, December 27th.

Kicker Blair Walsh started the scoring with a first quarter field goal and the Vikings never looked back.

The Vikings were led by running back Adrian Peterson, who rushed for over 100 yards for the seventh time this season. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater added 168 yards in the air and one touchdown to help secure the win for the Vikings.

The Giants were led by running back Rashad Jennings, who rushed for 74 yards in the loss. Quarterback Eli Manning struggled mightily, throwing three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by safety Harrison Smith.

Next up for the Vikings is a matchup with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, which will determine the NFC North champion. Whichever team wins that game will host a playoff game, while the other will be a wild card team.

Kickoff between the Vikings and the Packers will be at 7:25 p.m. Sunday night, January 3rd.
