Though they put in a bid, the city of Minneapolis and the new home of the Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium, will not host the 2020 College Football Playoff championship.

New Orleans was announced as the 2020 host city for the College Football Playoff championship on Wednesday, November 4th, according to InForum.

San Francisco, Charlotte, Houston, and San Antonio had also put in bids to host, but all of them ultimately lost out to 'The Big Easy.'

While they didn't get the 2020 College Football Playoff championship, Minneapolis and U.S. Bank Stadium still have a couple of big reasons to be excited. The venue will host Super Bowl LII in 2018 and the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in 2019.

U.S. Bank Stadium will officially open its doors in August 2016, according to the stadium's official website.
