Michigan and Michigan St. in the Sweet 16 Together

Being a native of Michigan, I've always had the opportunity to enjoy at least one college basketball team being successful. For the past 10 years or so, it's been Michigan State but, starting last season, Michigan started to turn things around. Now, they're both headed to the Sweet 16 in the same season for the first time ever!

Both teams had a relatively easy time in their round of 32 games. #4 Michigan beat #5 VCU by a score of 78-53 and #3 Michigan St. beat #6 Memphis 70-48. Now, Michigan will head to the next round to face either Kansas or North Carolina, while Michigan State will draw either Duke or Creighton.

As I look over my brackets, I'm sad to admit that though I did pick Michigan State to move on to the Sweet 16...I didn't pick Michigan. Even though it would completely destroy my bracket, I would love to see both teams continue forward through the tournament. I can't even begin to fathom what it would be like to have a Michigan vs. Michigan State National Championship game. I'd almost be obligated to take a trip home just to celebrate with my friends.

So, for all of my friends back home...and those of you in Bismarck that are transplant Michiganders like myself...GO BLUE! GO GREEN!
