Fire Prevention week begins on Oct. 8 and the Mandan Fire Department has activities planned to make sure you're prepared.

The festivities actually begin on Sept. 30 with a 5K run/walk and a 10K run at Raging Rivers water park. Registration begins at 8am with the races beginning at 9. You can register ahead of time here. Proceeds from the race benefit the Mandan Food Bank.

Then on Oct. 10, the public is invited to a fire truck parade at the Mandan Rural Fire Station at 3014 34th Street NW in Mandan. The parade begins at 6:30pm. The route will proceed down Old Red Trail to Sunset Drive and Sixth Avenue NW, continue on Main Street, turn at Sixth Avenue NE and end via First Street at Mandan Fire Station No. 1, located at 110 Collins Avenue.

Then from 7p to 9p there will be an open house at the fire station where fire truck rides among other activities will be available.

Students may also see Mandan firefighters visit their classrooms during that week.
