North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz ran it in from five yards out, with :37 seconds left in the game, and linebacker Esley Thorton picked off quarterback Tre Roberson to secure the Bison's fourth straight FCS Championship 29-27 over Illinois State.

Wentz led the Bison with 237 yards passing and 87 yards rushing, accounting for two touchdowns. Running back John Crockett also had a touchdown to go along with 74 yards rushing. Wide receiver RJ Urzendowski had five receptions for 100 yards, including two crucial catches on the Bison's final drive.

Illinois State quarterback Tre Roberson threw for 157 yards and ran for 161 more, including a 58-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter that gave the Redbirds the lead late.

NDSU, however, proved why they're now the four-time defending FCS Champions, marching down the field with less than two minutes to play and taking the lead on Wentz's five yard run.

NDSU's Esley Thorton secured the victory with an interception with just seconds left in the game. Both Thorton and Wentz are from Bismarck.

The Bison's senior class won more championships (4) than they lost games (3) during their time at NDSU.

Fans flooded the field in Frisco to join in on the historic celebration with their team:

The Bison were quickly congratulated by the FCS on their fourth championship in as many years:

Safe to say the Bison faithful will savor this one for a long time. GO BISON!!
