As part of a class project, Langdon, North Dakota third grader Edward Freer wrote a letter to Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Last week, Freer received a response.

According to WDAZ, Freer chose Australia because he 'thought it would be cool.' Now, Freer is the talk of the town, after Abbott sent a video message back to him and his classmates, along with a very special letter.

Freer was born almost completely blind, so the letter he sent Prime Minister Abbott was written in braille. Instead of simply handwriting Freer a letter back, though, Abbott took it upon himself to learn how to type his response in braille.

Abbott told Freer that not only was his letter the first he's received from North Dakota since he's become the Prime Minister of Australia, but it was also the first he's received written entirely in braille.

While speaking with WDAZ, Freer's mother, Carey, said that the family would probably visit Australia in the future and hopefully meet up with Edward's new friend.
