An article recently started making the social media rounds, claiming that actor Kevin Costner had grown 'tired of the L.A. lifestyle' and that he was packing up and moving to, of all places, Fargo. So, is it true?

Let's first take a look at the story. The website, WCPM3.com, claims that in a recent interview, Costner stated his desire to live in a place 'full of real, genuine people.' He had visited Fargo in the past and felt that the city offered everything he was looking for, even if he'd be 'further south in the winter.'

So, if you quickly look at the article, it might seem plausible that Costner truly intends on moving to Fargo. If you're smart, though, you'll do a little digging and discover that WCPM3.com is actually a satire website, which is clearly stated on its 'About Us' page.

More importantly, if you scour the internet, you'll find websites like WCPM3.com have been posting articles like this for quite some time. Our sister station, Banana 101.5 in Flint, Michigan, recently had a similar blog about Leonardo DiCaprio's intent to move to Warren, which was also false.

Ultimately, this is one of those cases of 'if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.' When you come across an article of this sort, it's always good to do a little extra research. In the case of Kevin Costner moving to Fargo, it took me less than two minutes to discover that the website the story was coming from wasn't a reputable source at all. Unfortunately, with over 300 comments on the post, it's quite obvious that some people didn't do their research.

If everyone would just take that extra time before blindly sharing things on social media, the world would be a much better place.

And, Mr. Costner, if you're reading this, we'd love to have you move to North Dakota. Everything the article said about Fargo having 'real, genuine people' is 100% true. You'd love it here.
