A 59 year old man died in a car crash in McKenzie county according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

According to NDHP, a 19 year old male as traveling westbound on Bear Den Road towards Watford City when icy conditions caused him to lose control of his Ford F350.

The driver crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and crashed into a Ford F250 head on. A 59 year old man, Robert Barke, who was driving the F250 died on the scene as a result of the crash.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol crash report, the 59 year old was not wearing a seat belt.

The 19 year old who was driving the F350, Luis Saldana, was wearing his seat belt. Saldana did suffer from non-life threatening injuries but no further details were given.

The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m on Jan. 17.

The crash remains under investigation.
