In honor of the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, which will take place Monday, February 15th, in Los Angeles, we thought we'd put together a list of winners and nominees that were born right here in North Dakota.

It's not a long list by any means, but there have been a handful of North Dakotans that have won and been nominated for Grammys since they first started handing out the award back in 1959.

    Peggy Lee

Born in Jamestown in 1920, Peggy Lee became the first North Dakotan to ever win a Grammy. She was awarded the Grammy for Best Contemporary Vocal Performance, Female in 1969 for her song 'Is That All There Is?'

Lee was nominated for 12 Grammys in total and was also given the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.

Lee passed away in 2002 in Los Angeles, CA.

    Jonny Lang

While he's been nominated for a handful of Grammys, Fargo-born Jonny Lang has only won one: the 2006 Grammy for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album for his 'Turn Around' album.

Lang's most recent album, 'Fight for My Soul,' was released back in 2013.

    Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa was born in Minot in 1987, but his parents served in the military, meaning the rapper's time in North Dakota was short-lived.

In his young career, Khalifa has already been nominated for ten Grammys, though he has yet to bring home a trophy. That could all change February 15th, as Khalifa is up for three awards, including Song of the Year for his hit 'See You Again.'
