Just over a week ago, gas prices in Bismarck Mandan were soaring at $3.19 a gallon.  Now, the COVID-19 positivity rate is soaring across the country and gas prices have begun tumbling.  Currently at $2.99 a gallon at most Bismarck Mandan pumps.  The cheapest prices in the Capital City since early May.

According to AAA, crude oil prices are also the lowest since May.  They currently stand at $62.32 a barrel.  That's a significant decline of $5.00 from last week.  The reason for the drop?  Continued concerns over the Delta Variant, as once again COVID-19 spreads across the globe.  The fear from big oil?  We will see significantly less demand for crude oil, as more people will once again be working from home or traveling less in general.

The National price at the pump is at $3.16, but is expected to continue to fall.  We typically see a decline in gas in prices in the fall anyway, as motorists tend to travel less.  This could mean some much needed relief at the pump in the very near future.

There's an old saying, "you have to take the bad with the good" or as in this case, "you have to take the good with the bad."  Nobody wants another fall like last year when it comes to COVID-19.  Hopefully, that will not be the case.  However, as somebody who does a lot of traveling in the fall (a lot of fall fishing and hunting), I'll certainly take the lower gas prices.
