Here's something crazy that you won't see everyday.

Because of a lack of sea ice, a herd of around 35,000 walruses gathered on a beach in Alaska to rest.

That led to wildlife officials to ask pilots of both helicopters and airplanes to fly at least 2,000 feet above the beach to keep the engine noise from causing the herd to stampede, NBC News reported. If the herd was to stampede, the cows could run over the calves, which could lead to severe trauma or even death.

Hopefully the pilots near the area are up to the tusk, err, task.
