Late last week, FXX began their 'Every Simpsons Ever' marathon, in which they're playing all 552 episodes of the classic animated series. Needless to say, since the marathon began, I've been pretty useless.

So, in honor of FXX's 'Every Simpsons Ever' marathon, here are five of my absolute favorite episodes of The Simpsons.

    'Homerpalooza'

'Homerpalooza' aired during the 7th season of The Simpsons and features cameos from some great 90's bands, including Smashing Pumpkins and Cypress Hill. In the episode, Homer becomes a part of the Hullabalooza freak show, after he learns that he can take a cannonball strike to the stomach. Obviously, countless cannonballs to the gut takes its toll on Homer and he's forced to quit his freak show gig, much to the disappointment of his new musical friends.

    'Homer at the Bat'

Another episode featuring countless cameos, 'Homer at the Bat' features Mr. Burns paying some ringers to help his baseball team defeat the team from Shelbyville. Players like Roger Clemens, Ken Griffey Jr., and Wade Boggs come to play for Springfield, putting Homer on the outs. Before the big game, though, eight of the nine players aren't able to play, leaving only Darryl Strawberry left. In a surprise move, Burns pinch hits for Strawberry with the game on the line and puts Homer in the batters box. Simpson takes a ball off the dome and Springfield wins the game!

    'Flaming Moe's'

Much like 'Homer at the Bat', 'Flaming Moe's' aired during season three of The Simpsons. In this classic episode, Homer introduces Moe to a drink he created late at night that he calls 'The Flaming Homer'. Moe tries the drink, before giving it to a customer, who absolutely loves it. Moe decides to take Homer's drink idea, turning it into 'The Flaming Moe', and turning his bar into a Springfield hot spot. It isn't until Homer reveals the secret ingredient, due to his resentment of Moe, that things return to normal.

    'Marge vs. The Monorail'

Though he didn't appear in every episode like other cast members, the late Phil Hartman lent his voice to The Simpsons countless times, including in this episode. Hartman stars as Lyle Lanley, a fast-talking salesman who convinces the city of Springfield to build a monorail, much to the dismay of Marge. Mrs. Simpson does some research on monorails and learns that they've basically ruined three different cities. Homer ends up becoming the conductor of the maiden monorail voyage, which, spoiler alert, doesn't go as planned.

    'Bart Gets an Elephant'

This episode holds a special place in my heart, due to its storyline's involvement with radio. In the episode, local radio station KBBL is doing a contest, in which they call residents randomly and if the person answers with the phrase 'KBBL is going to give me something stupid', they win! Well, no surprise here, they call the Simpson household and Bart answers the phone correctly. He's offered one of two prizes: cash or an elephant. Of course, Bart chooses the elephant. What transpires is classic Simpsons ridiculousness, with Bart's elephant, Stampy, becoming the talk of the town.
