Do the Numbers on Toaster Dials Represent Minutes? [VIDEO]

Over the past few days, I've seen an article pop up on Facebook, claiming that the numbers on the dial of a toaster represented minutes. I'll admit, I was curious and now I know the truth.

Thanks to the above video from YouTuber Tom Scott, I can now confirm that the numbers on a toaster have absolutely nothing to do with time, as toasters do not feature a timing mechanism.

More importantly, as it is explained in the video, if the numbers did represent minutes, what would it matter? The amount of time you would need to toast a piece of bread would vary, based on which type of bread you used.

Ultimately, the only way to truly discover how long to leave a piece of bread in the is a game we like to call 'trail and error'.

This is just another example of why you definitely should not believe everything you read on the internet.
