My daughter's Kindergarten class recently took a field trip to The Dakota Zoo and it had been awhile since we'd last visited. Boy, I was impressed with the amazing new additions and enclosures at the zoo.

I had as much fun as the kids! I would sugggest if you have not been there for awhile to stop on by. With school almost done for the year you are probably looking for ideas to intertain the kiddos for the summer, so check out the schedule of events at the Dakota Zoo.

They offer a monthly breakfast at the zoo, where you can enjoy your favorite breakfast foods and gaze at the animals.

Every age group can find an activity at the Dakota Zoo with Zookeeper camps, Camp Ed Venture, Little Tykes Camps and a whole lot more!

One of our favorite things to do was riding the train to see all the animals. However, if you're looking to get some exercise, you can stroll the vast acreage.

Pro tip: bring quarters because the kids love the feed the animals (especially the goats!)

Plus you'll enjoy all the classic zoo animals:  lions, monkies, bears, tigers and my daughters favorite — the otters!

Here are some other upcoming events:

  • The Annual Member Picnic is July 16th with yummy food!
  • Brew at the Zoo (enjoy cold adult beverages) and the company of friends and the animals on August 17th.
  • Later in year it's the annual Halloween Boo at the Zoo and of course Santa's Arrival. It's never to early to start thinking about the holiday season!
