Helicopters were needed early Sunday morning, October 30th, to help extinguish a large fire that began near the Dakota Access Pipeline protests in Morton County.

The Morton County Sheriff's Department posted the following picture to Facebook earlier today, along with an update describing how two North Dakota National Guard Black Hawk helicopters were needed to battle the blaze:

According to a post on SayAnythingBlog.com, the Mandan Rural Fire Department responded to the fire, but the terrain made it impossible for them to reach it. Thanks to the North Dakota National Guard, the fire was extinguished before damaging any structures in the area.

The Morton County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the cause of the fire, though it is worth noting that the fire began in an area that had already seen multiple fires set in recent days.
