Let me preface this by saying I respect the hell out of Colin Kaepernick. The things that he has done to opposing defenses in the first nine starts of his career have been nothing short of amazing. That being said, I had to laugh when I read the latest news about him.

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, the second-year quarterback has filed to trademark "Kaepernicking", his celebration of flexing and kissing his right bicep. He had many opportunities to show the world this move during his almost single-handed dismantling of my beloved Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs, and as a result, Kaepernick and his camp are using the opportunity to capitalize on his skyrocketing popularity.

His application says that he plans to use the term on "clothing, namely shirts". ESPN reports that Kaepernick's marketing team already has authorized a few small T-shirt companies to use his name and image on their products. To his credit, a portion of those proceeds will go towards supporting camps attended by children with heart problems.

"Fitzing"
"Fitzing" (kissing of the LEFT bicep) is the next big thing.

I just can't help but think this is really lame...I mean, is he the first guy in the NFL to kiss his bicep? I really respect the whole charity angle of it, but it just reeks of self-aggrandizing to me. Make your money while you can, but this seems like another fad that's destined to go the way of "Tebowing" and "Griffining" (does anyone even remember that?).

So with all that said, I gotta ask...
