We still don't know if North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz will return this season, but we do know one thing: he will most surely be selected in next year's NFL Draft.

According to a recent 2016 NFL mock draft, released by CBSSports.com, Wentz could go to the New York Jets at pick #23 in next year's draft:

While Ryan Fitzpatrick is the present, who is the quarterback of the future for the Jets? Bryce Petty is more of a back-up option, but Wentz would give the franchise a player to groom as the future starter.

If CBSSports.com's mock draft holds true, Wentz would be the second quarterback chosen in the draft, just a few picks after Michigan State's Connor Cook, who they have going to the Houston Texans at pick #19.

Cook, of course, will be leading Michigan State into battle against Alabama on New Years Eve, as part of the College Football Playoff. The Spartans finished the season with a last-second Big Ten Championship win over Iowa to secure their College Football Playoff spot.

So, it is completely possible that the FBS and FCS championship quarterbacks could go in the first round of next year's NFL Draft, assuming Cook and the Spartans win it all and Wentz returns from his wrist injury and suits up for the Bison.

Stranger things have happened.
