Carson Wentz is the NFL FedEx Air Player of the Year
Carson Wentz may have finished third in the MVP voting, but he certainly beat out Tom Brady for at least one award this season.
Last night, it was announced that Wentz won the award for NFL FedEx Air Player of the Year. The FedEx Ground Player of the Year honors went to Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley. As a result, $50,000 will be donated to the USO in each player's name.
The award is decided by fan voting so it's no surprise that not only the Philadelphia Eagles fan base and everyone back in North Dakota pulled for their hometown hero from Bismarck.
One more time, we'll remind you of the overwhelming stats Wentz piled up in just 13 games: 33 touchdowns and 3,926 yards passing before his season was shortened by his ACL injury.
Wentz beat out both Tom Brady and Alex Smith for the award. Brady took home the MVP, while Todd Gurley finished second, followed by Wentz. The MVP is voted on by a panel of sportswriters.
