It was a scorching day in Bismarck as a record-setting high temperature was reached for June 9th.

The previous record-high temperature for Bismarck on June 9th was 96 degrees. That was surpassed this afternoon when the National Weather Service in Bismarck announced a new record-high temperature on Twitter.

Other local reports had the temperature reaching as high as 99 in the afternoon. In fact, at 2 p.m., when the record-high temperature was announced, the only major city throughout the country with a higher temperature than Bismarck was Phoenix, AZ. Cities such as Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, Miami, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, San Diego, Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, etc. all had lower temperatures than Bismarck. All except for Phoenix.

That being said, remember to take the necessary precautions on hot days. If you're working outside, frequently take breaks in the shade, don't leave kids or pets unattended inside a hot car, and stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids, but do make sure you choose the right fluids unlike the clip below.
