The Bismarck Police Department has been involved in another incident where an officer discharged his service weapon.

The officer involved shooting happened Sunday, March 6th, on E. Thayer Ave. The unidentified 42-year old man was intoxicated, armed with a shotgun, and wanted to kill the person who called 911, according to a statement released by the Bismarck Police Department.

Once officers arrived on the scene, the suspect fled out the back door of the apartment complex. The officer asked him to show his hands and get on the ground. The officer believed the Mandan man was armed and dangerous, so the officer fired his rifle.

Officers found a shotgun in the apartment building hallway.
