Back To School Will Be Up To The Districts

Governor Doug Burgum announced yesterday afternoon during his press conference that back to school plans/guidelines will be up to the individual school districts.  So what does that exactly mean?  Schools will be able to decide if they want "traditional" in person classes, distance learning or a hybrid of the two.

These plans were developed in conjunction with the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and the North Dakota Department of Health.  School districts must develop Heath and Safety Plans and Distance Learning Plans that are approved by the local school board and posted on the school district website.

Here's what Bismarck Public Schools plans to do.  Parent and Staff surveys will be texted and emailed TODAY to all parents with children who attend Bismarck Public Schools.  You will have a big voice on what kind of learning you want to see for your child this upcoming school year.  Deadline to  respond to this survey will be this Sunday, July 19th 2020 at 5 pm.  There will also be a community survey to be emailed to a representative group this week.  Deadline to respond  is the same.  This Sunday, July 19th 2020 at 5 pm.  Bismarck Public Schools Re-entry Plans will go to the Bismarck School Board for approval tentatively later in the week of July 20th to July 24th.

So you can expect an announcement from Bismarck Public Schools sometime early in the week of July 27th on what back to school will look like here in Bismarck.  I think it's great that Bismarck Public Schools is involving the parents and community on the decision.  It's a big one for sure.
