There's a good chance that if you happen to know anyone that falls into the category of a millennial, you've most likely heard the term "adulting" used as a verb.

You may see it pop up in your social media news feed, if you haven't already, but "adulting" or as you may also see it, #adulting is being thrown around by millennials. The Urban Dictionary defines the term as "to do grown up things and hold responsibilities such as, a 9-5 job, a mortgage/rent, a car payment, or anything else that makes one think of grown ups."

As it turns out, there's a school for that. The Adulting School has been established in Portland, Maine. It was founded in 2016 and is now open for enrollment. Founder Rachel Weinstein says the school teaches adults how to pay bills on time, cook interview for a job, and how to become better at relationships. The school offers not only classes in person, but also online. The school's site even allows you to take an 'Adulting Quiz' so that you can find out your 'adulting IQ.'

As it turns out, the concept has made its way to North Dakota...ahem, the University of North Dakota, to be exact. UND offered a 12-week course this semester in "Adulting." The course is worth two credits and a flier for the class described it as, "Cooking. Taxes. Leaving voicemails. Wearing pants...If any of the above confuses or distresses you, you are not alone...Adulting is hard."

So millennials, next time life seems to be overwhelming due to the daily tasks of taking care of yourself, just remember that schools teach what you're trying to bravely do on your own.
