Did you know that there is an organization right here in North Dakota that is dedicated to battling human trafficking in our state? The people who are a part of 31:8 Project are dedicated to being leaders in educating people about human trafficking. And one of the organization's upcoming education opportunities will be to teach people about social media and exploitation.

The "Social Media and Exploitation" seminar will be a virtual event, held on March 4. According to 31:8 Project's website, viewers "will have a better understanding of how youth are being affected by the use of social media, what to look for, and information on pornography and its relationship with online exploitation." You can learn more and register for "Social Media and Exploitation" here. You can also learn more about 31:8 Project's other education opportunities here.

"Speak up for those who can't speak for themselves," Proverbs 31:8.

I recently got the opportunity to speak with 31:8 Project's founder and executive director, Stacy Schaffer. I was surprised to learn that since January 1, 2016, the North Dakota Human Trafficking Task Force has served 535. And 80% of the people happened to be North Dakota residents. This is very real and it is happening in the place we call "home." And Stacy and the rest of her team want to provide North Dakotans with the knowledge and tools to "Speak up for those who can't speak for themselves," Proverbs 31:8.
