West Nile Virus Death reported in North Dakota

Terrible to hear.

The person who died was an individual in the Northwest region of North Dakota and was 60 years old. That is the age that is most affected. The symptoms are pretty generic though, headache, stiff neck, fever ... Man, I had those symptoms last weekend. 

If you're older and you have those symptoms, it’s better to go seek a health care professional and be safe than sorry. Some of the symptoms also include altered mental state which could be anything. 

Last year North Dakota had 62 cases and 2 deaths. Doesn't seem like a lot but North Dakota isn't populated like other states so that number is somewhat significant. 

I guess the moral of the story is that if you are over 60 you should be seeing your medical professional pretty regularly just in case things like this very lethal virus do come up.
